Been a long time

Ok so I have been so busy being back in school and now that my semester only has four weeks left so I am excited. I will finally be a college graduate YEAH!!!!!! I am still exercising twice a week sometimes three and I have finally reached my goal weight of 127lbs which is awesome and I finally bought my wedding dress. One huge thing to cross off my wedding list. My brother is finally coming back from Peru on November 29th also very good news since he has been gone for six months. I am also looking forward to his fiancee Pamela coming home from Nicaragua which is also exciting since we get to go bridesmaid dress shopping. Christmas is right around the corner which is another important even coming up but I am poor so who knows what I am going to be able to buy for people this year. I guess I will figure it out when the times comes.

Ok I am back

Ok so no more boot camp I officially signed up for a trainer two weeks ago and I have had three training sessions so far. I really have been enjoying it and I am realizing that I am stronger than I thought I was. I am still walking a mile everyday at work which is great. I am going to miss it when I go back to school on the 25th but oh the stairs I will be climbing again. I have also been trying to go to the gym at least 4 times a week. Last week is a prime example Monday- spinning, Tuesday Training session, Wednesday off, Thursday Training and spinning. So far this week I have had training on Tuesday and Pilates. I am taking a body works class tomorrow and will be training and spinning on Thursday. So I think I am on the right track again along with the help of the body bug which is this device that I have to wear on my right arm everyday until I reach my goal. So far I have only lost half a pound which was bad I was supposed to lose a pound so hopefully this week when I weigh myself again next Monday I lost a pound and a half so I will just have to wait and see what happens. The body bugg is cool though because it is a calorie counter. It counts the calories I bring in and I enter in all my food into a food log and it also counts the calories I burn so hopefully my calories are in a deficit so I lose weight. I am looking forward to the 26th since I have a meeting with my coach to talk about my goal and ask her if I have to wear it that weekend since it is Nascar and I don't want funky tan lines. Ok well I am back to keeping on track and will continue to update my progress now that I am back to a regimen of working out and eating better.

Taking July off

Ok so my mom has decided that she would rather pay for a personal trainer and have me take the classes at my gym and use the gym which is actually fine. I really have enjoyed every class I have taken so far. Which has only been two. I have taken a pilates class and a spinning class. Tonight I am taking a body plus abs class which is going to be some weight training so I am kind of excited because I know its going to be fun and hard but if I want to lose ten pounds then I will do what it takes to get there.

Tuesday and Wednesday

Ok so I was a dork and could not hear my alarm clock yesterday over the sound of my fan and missed bootcamp. I was actually very disappointed at myself for doing this because how am I going to get stronger and see results if I miss bootcamp. Today was really good I could not participate in the running stuff but I did however climb the hill two times forward and one time backwards. Such a great workout and I love it. I really do not mind climbing the hill because I know it hurts but I am strengthening my quad muscles by doing this type of exercise. In the long run I know this is going to be really good for me to do. I am actually looking forward for tomorrow because we are getting our body compostition percentage done again and we are getting weighed so I can see if a month really helped me or not. Om so disappointing I did not gain or lose anything but I do feel toner. The only thing that did change was a 1/2 inch on my waist line but I have a long way to go to get to where I need to be. I need to lose four inches from my waist line. So I just have to keep exercising three to five times a week to get there and start eating less food than I am now. I learned that a pound of fat equals 3,500 calories so if you want to lose a pound you need to burn that much every week and try to consume less amounts of food. Its crazy to think about but ten pounds is ten pounds and I need to do it.

Last Week of June Bootcamp

Ok so I had a really lazy weekend which was awesome. I slept in and watched movies trying to avoid the 108 degree weather outside. It was still in the 80's at night so it was pretty hard to sleep but it was nice to do absolutely nothing for once. Today's bootcamp was really fun I love doing intervals where I speed walk and other people run to the location and we do a series of exercises. Today we did squats with the weights then to the next area where we did triceps and row extensions great exercise then to the next area where we did second postition squats. We also did some jumping jacks and walking lunges. I could not jump rope so I did a kick ball change on a curb then switched to the other side. We aslo started with ab exercises today which were pretty tough my abs are most likely going to be sore tomorrow but I have noticed a difference in my skin it feels tighter but I really do not think I have lost any weight. Hopefully I lost an inch of body fat but if not there is always next month to do it. Until tomorrow for now I am just icing my knees and taking it easy.

Thursday and Friday

Ok so I had bootcamp yesterday and I took it a little easier then normal because I had my doctors appointment with the orthopaedic doctor so I did not want to get crazy. I did still have a great workout and I am sore today from yesterday so I know I still worked hard. So my doctors appointment was not what I expected at all I am actually disappointed that my questions were not answered and that I did not learn anything new. Basically he just took x-rays of my knees and was like oh well your knee caps go outward which is common for female blah blah blah. Thats great and all but my pain is not on the outside of my knees at all its on the inside of my knees which to me seems like tearing and muscles and ligaments but what do I know I am not a doctor. He told me I am not really supposed to run and that I should try not to over do it and I really don't think I liked him very much. He did not seem to listen to me or what I had to say I know where my pain is but I guess I will just keep going to camp and do low impact exercises instead of the high impact because I need to strengthen my muscles around my knee.

So today at bootcamp I did lots of power walking with weights which I love anyways I have always hated running because it does hurt. (I also suck but besides the point) We did pretty much a full body workout and I love being able to work all muscle groups. We used circle bands on arms and we did a partner row exercise which is amazing for triceps and we did ab exercises that were also amazing. I guess I am going to just use wraps on my knees and continue chugging along I know I have pain but I am going to just suck it up and suffer through it hopefully not making them worse. I just have to remember to ice my knees and take care of them. I am not having surgery unless I absolutely have to have to go under the knife.

Another Day

Alright so I went to my Doctors office yesterday even though I did not have to since I have a PPO but its ok he gave me a business card for a specialist and I got lucky because I have my appointment tomorrow so hopefully he will just give me some exercises and I will be ok. I am too young to have knee surgery or anything crazy like that. So boot camp was fun today I did no running and I did my step ups on a park bench instead of the crazy step up location everyone else was doing theirs on. We climbed the hill with weights today and I did tons of power walking with my weights. We mostly focused on legs today so lunges, squats, groucho walk and side steps was the circuit and then at the mats we did bridge raises, leg lifts, second postion plies with weights and we also did this lower ab crunch exercise that is awesome oh man I feel it now so I can only image what its going to be like tomorrow. To do this exercise you lie on you back with one leg straight the other one bent and crunch up you do this for a couple of reps. Then while you crunch you lift the straight leg up and do this for a couple of reps then to make it harder still you do the same thing lift the straight leg up and crunch but then you reach your arms up as well and oh man feel the burn. So excited totally my new favorite lower ab exercise can't wait until tomorrow for some more pain and good stuff.

Missed Camp on Monday but sure Made it up Today

Ok so I woke up yesterday morning with wonderful sharp pain in my knees so I decided to skip camp because I knew I was not going to be able to handle it. I am glad I made the choice I did I iced my knees all day and took tylenol for the pain which did help a little bit. I guess chasing after a three year old on Sunday will tire you out and climbing up a ladder on an inflatible water slide will also bother someone with bad knees but hey what do I know. So I did wake up and go to camp this morning and wow it was tough I think I sweat the most today then I have in any of the other days I have gone to camp. We did a crazy running trail where we would stop then do some kind of exercise such as jumping jacks, squat jumps, punching and things of that nature. It was a nice change of scenery and I enjoyed being able to visit the entire park besides just the parking lot for once. I did not jump rope today because I figured the constant jarring of motion would bug so I power walked with my weights which is so much fun and I think I might continue power walking. We also did my favorite kind of crunches today we did the reverse crunch with a leg out they are awesome for lower abs which is still my problem area. We also did tons of funky push ups such as staggered push up where one arm is further out then the other and one is in a tricep push-up position they seemed to work out ok. We also did prisoner push-ups oh man tough your in a plank position and then you pull one leg up using core muscles then put it back then bring the other leg up and then do a push-up. We also did walking push-ups which are also tough but I liked them. I am bummed that I missed Monday but I know my knees and I knew I would not have been able to do it. So I can't wait until four o'clock today because I have a doctor's appointment. I have been wanting MRI's of my knees now for years and I think I am finally going to get one so YEAH. Hopefully I won't need surgery I personally think I just need to strengthen my muscles around my knees but who knows I will find out and let you all know. Fingers crossed for good luck until tomorrow.

Second Week Days four and five

Ok ok so I dropped the ball a little bit and forgot to document bootcamp yesterday. It has been really tough for me the past two days to get up at 5am it is so much easier to push snooze and roll back over and go back to bed. Instead I do get up and go and I always happy when I get finished with camp because I feel better. Thursday was cardio where we walked/ran the hill did step ups, crazy jacks, oblique twists, 180 degree twist squat jumps and the three step heisman. We also did some abdominal exercises which were great. Today (Friday) was mostly focused on arms so I was stoked since thats the area I really want to work on. We did lots of weight training exercises such as triceps, and chest exercises we also did bicep curls and tricep extensions on one leg they were tough but good. Then was the ab exercises where we did a ton of lower abs which once again is the area I really am trying to focus on. So needless to say I am going to be hurting tomorrow because I am sore from the oblique exerises today anfd I know tomorrow I am going to be sore with my arms and maybe abs.

Week 2 Day 2

Alright so today was very tough I stayed at Ryan's house so I had to wake up at 4:30am instead of the 5am I am used to. Also the exercises we did today were very harsh on my knee lots of jumping jacks, hop jumping, kickboxing moves, lots of running and we did that basketball drill where you run to a cone touch the ground and run back then run to a further cone then run back. It was tough and tons of running. My mom also got the brilliant idea of having me sit on an exercise ball as a chair instead of a normal chair at work. Today is my first day and it is pretty tough but it is really good for the core muscles. My knees are pretty sore so ice and tylenol are going to be my best friends tonight. I am still very excited about boot camp and I do feel I am getting slimmer but I still think it is much too early to tell. I can't wait until tomorrow we are working on abs and legs which I really want to work on and stregthen. I walk a quick little walk everyday now at work and I am going to do my own ab exercises tonight since we did not do as much ab workout as I would have liked until then.

Week 2 Day One

Ok so I was really bad this weekend. I went to a bbq on Saturday and did a lot of snacking on pita chips and dips. I also had tons of fruit and I drank four martinis so yikes. Then Yesterday I went to a Padres Game and had two beers, a hot dog, french fries, a sushi roll. So I most definitely had more calories this weekend then I really needed. So first day back to bootcamp was not too bad. I am not sure maybe I am getting used to the exercise or I am not working hard enough but I think tomorrow I am going to have to push myself harder if I really want to see the results I want. Today we did the hill then a quick sprint up the hill, tricep, shoulder and normal push ups on a bench. Side crunches standing up, squat jumps, a quick jog back to the mats to start a circuit. This one was mostly arms using bands with handles we did punches, rows, then we had to do the mountain climber and shoulder presses and curls then a quick run/jog to start over. Back to mats for a variety of ab exercises we did flutter kicks, reverse crunches, plank, scissors and some other exercises. I am going to walk tonight and do lots of stretching. For lunch today I am thinking tuna and some fruit but not sure about dinner yet so who knows I will wait until then to find out.

Yeah First Day Off

Oh yeah I was so excited to not be disturbed by a loud annoying alarm clock at 5am. It was nice to slowly wake up and slowly stumble out of bed because my muscles are sore. I am glad I finally decided to exercise in a way that is fun and fairly inexenspensive at only 10$ a day way cheaper than a personal trainer. But I wanted to get started now, I have a year and four months to get in shape and maintain it. So I can wear the dress of my dreams. The problem I need nicer arms they are not bad but I would really enjoy more definition in my arms so I am working on it. I know this is supposed to be my work out blog but I have to mention my brother and his fiance will be out of the country for six months. He is in Peru and she is in Nicaragua so it is going to be tough but reading thier blogs and seeing photos will keep me happy until Monday when I am back at bootcamp.

Fifth Day

YEAH FIRST WEEK DONE and I finally get to sleep in for a little bit. I don't have to wake up at 5am until Monday so excited. I was also really excited because I am not very sore today which made me even happier it is amazing how much more energy I have and how much tighter my body is already starting to feel I can not even believe. I have also decided that I am going to do July's bootcamp but only three days a week so I can go to the river and go on trips or whatever Ryan wants to do. Today's exercises we did the hill for a warm up then we did step ups that I can't do because of my knee so I had to do these three point twist jumps. We also did tricep push ups again. Then a small jog back to the mats. Where we put bands on our ankles so we can do squats while walking then side steps in the band then squats walking backwards. This we did twice and I really enjoyed this exercise. Then we did some jumping jacks then walking legs lifts. After this we did donkey kicks then ab work which is another thing I love because I want a strong core and nice abs. I can not wait until next week to see what my body is going to look like.

4th day

Ok Ok so my calves are super duper sore which sucks but is great as well. Today was tough we walked up this hill, then did tricep dips, jumping jacks, v jacks, tricep jacks and cross jacks or something. Then back up the hill we did this circuit about two and half times. Then we did a quick jog where we went up and down a little ravine, then climbed a grassy hill, then some plie jumps two sets. Next we ran back and did some abdominal exercises that were awesome. I know I am going to be sore tomorrow from yesterdays arm exercises but I can not wait until my end results and see what I look like. I don't see any changes yet but my mom and some co-workers are noticing my flatter stomach. So yeah so excited week one is almost over so the worst is almost done and hopefully the next three weeks will be hard but doable.

3rd day of bootcamp

Ok so I think I am getting used to waking up early it really is not too bad. This is a good thing since the bootcamp time is not changing anytime soon so I have to get used to it. Today we did a ton of buttock exercises which is great I would like mine to be lifted and toned a little more so it should be good. We also did lots of arms exercises. Two different circuits one of buttock exercises such as plie suats, lunges, normal squats, leg lift with butt squeez and a theraband exercise where you put in around your ankles and do side steps. The arms circuit we used these great bands with handles and we did triceps, biceps, row exercises, fly exercises. I want really nice and toned arms for my wedding so I know this will definitely do what I want. I have also realized that I have not been keeping track of what I eat.
So far I have had a slim fast bar, a slim fast shake and now I am eating a bagel. For lunch I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, carrots and ranch dressing and salmon, cream cheese and crackers. I am still very positive that this will work and hopefully after this is over I will be a size 4 no more size 6. I went in my spa last night to relax my muscles and after the spa I had to ice my knees so they would not be swollen. I actually don't feel as sore as yesterday but of course I still am. I know that my arms and butt are going to hurt tomorrow. So I wonder what we are going to do tomorrow. I know it is cardio day so it should be fun. Until then.

Second day of bootcamp

Ok so once again very much out of shape. I had my body compostition fat percentage done today and I need to lose 2% or more but my body mass index was good the instructor said so I did not feel too bad. I knew I was going to be a little sore today but wow I have really bad shin splints that do not want to go away my abs are a little sore today as well but other than I feel pretty good. I got to bootcamp at 5:15am today so I could remind the instructor about my knee issues and she appreciated me telling her so she does not push me more. So today in bootcamp I did a push up test and I was only able to do 15 girl push-ups. We also did a small little hike up a steep hill. Then we had to run to some park benches and tables where we did step-up switching legs on the benches then to push-ups on the tables both normal and triceps the triceps push-ups are so hard especially for me I have absolutely no arm strength. After these excercises we ran back to our mats where we did some abs for about 3 minutes whatever kind of abs excercise we wanted. After this we did a small circuit that contained jumping jacks, v jacks, lunge jumps, and also squat jumps. After the circuit which lasted about two and half rounds for me. We were back at the mats for more ab work. This time we did small crunches, then plank, then frog crunches, back to plank, then frog crunch extenstions back to plank. This back and forth of back to tummy was really great and made it feel like cardio I really enjoyed doing the abs exercises. The last thing we did today was jump rope which is very hard for me because of my knees so I did it for awhile but then stopped and did some lunges and squats on the curb. Tonight I know I am going to have to ice my knees otherwise they will get swollen or really sore. I know I have to be really careful and not over do it but I really want to get toned and the first time in my life I am actually motivated to get in shape for no one else but me. (Well maybe the wedding is inspiration as well).

My first day of bootcamp

Getting up this morning at 4:30am was really tought but I know its going to be really good for me to get toned and happy about my body. Ok so I have come to realize I definitely am more out of shape than I would like to believe. My mile time was 13 minutes and 31 seconds which is very slow for someone my age of 23. So hopefully at the end of this experience my mile will be faster aroung ten minutes or something. Right now I weigh 137 and I would really like to get to 127 I also want to get a waist because I really do not have one at this moment in time. I am all hips and would like to have some kind of definition I want to go from a 30" waist to a 26" waist so who knows if that will happen. My other goal after this experience is to have more definition in my arms because I am doing this bootcamp for my wedding which is September 18, 2009 so hopefully I can reach my goals I have over a year to get to them. So until tomorrow I am going to kepp this blog going until I reach my goals and hopefully write on it every day. Bootcamp is going to kill me since I am going to do eight weeks straight maybe longer depending on the results I get.
